Final Fantasy II may be one of the least loved of the series, both about it’s gameplay or music, it still have some wonderful pieces of music such as the Main Theme, the town Theme or the really famous Chocobo Theme !
We tried to give justice to those melodies that we all really love.

Pixel Mixers April Cover Contest Results

Hello people, it’s time for the review of April cover contest results !
The theme was “Villain Themes” and it was full of surprises.

Even if there was a bit less participants it was full of surprises like members making big collabs, people really trying new music style or some really original arrangements completely changing the mood from the original.

My last point was referring to the audio winner of this month, Orchestral Fantasy with his crazy salsa version of Kefka’s Theme from Final Fantasy VI.
At the 2nd and 3rd places we have the 2 leaders of the 2017 Pixel Mixers championship: Subversiveasset and PrjzCalavera.

About the video contest it’s a victory for Subversiveasset followed by PrjzCalavera and at the 3rd place we have a tie between the heavy SwigglesRP and the Epic Italian Team composed of Psamathes, Dacian Grada and Danilo Ciaffi.

PrjzCalavera keeps the lead at the 2017 audio championship, followed by Subversiveasset who took the 2nd place to Hashel (who didn’t enter this month). At the 4th place there is a tie between SwigglesRP and Dancian Grada, finally at the 5th place is this month’s winner: Orchestral Fantasy.

The May contest‘s theme is “Dance” so you can pick any VGM song you like as long as your arrangement make people want to dance =)

Rayman – Harmony

Hi friends, today i have the pleasure to announce that we are releasing a new album !
This one is called “Harmony” and it covers 25 songs from the Playstation 1 classic game “Rayman” developed by Ubisoft.

You can download our album for free by clicking on this picture =>

Harmony

Or directly with this link: http://bit.ly/2mIDMHc

Rayman on PSX was the first video game that I played when I was a child and because of that the game and its music both have a special place in my heart.
I wasn’t sure that many people would be motivated to join the album as the game wasn’t really successful outside Europe.
But once again the Pixel Mixers community showed much enthusiasm into participating and they delivered some amazing songs !

I hope that you, who’s going to listen to our album will take as much pleasure as we had working on those groovy songs by Rémi Gazel, the French original composer.

This album has a great variety of music styles due to the amazing original content, there are: jazz, metal, prog rock, funky, electro, ethnic, ambient, pop… songs !

You can also listen to the FULL ALBUM directly on Youtube:

So what do think about this album? Have you enjoyed it?

Here is a poll I made with all the songs name, let us know which ones were your favourite (try to pick around 5-6 songs) => http://www.strawpoll.me/12614273

What is a video game battle theme?

Pixel Mixers Video Game Battle Themes

What is a video game battle theme? Do only certain genres of video games have battle themes? Can stage themes or character themes count as battle themes?

The theme for the Pixel Mixers February 2017 Cover Contest is for fan musicians to cover video game music from the ’90s that were used as battle themes. (If you are a musician and would like to participate, click that link for more information about our monthly contests.) But within just a few days of announcing this theme, I received several questions about what counts as a battle theme in a video game.

What are obvious choices for video game battle themes?
